JAI SRI KRISHNA
The Hindu festival "Janmashtami" appears every year on ashtami tithi of krushnapakhya bhadrava. On this day Lord Krishna took birth from the womb of Maataa Devki and shifted to Gokul or Vrindavan. That's why this day is observed as Janmashtami from a long time ago in the hindu mythology.
This festival is observed approximately for eight days in some places of India like Mathura,Vrindavan and its outskirt villages. This festival brings a lot of happiness, joy and love among youngsters. Boys and girls play different games with their colleagues. Such programs and competitions like "haandi phata, antaakhyari, kite flying etc. are also organised on this occasion on the streets. At evening time there is a Bhajan Samaroh everyday to observe the festival in a beautiful manner. The unmarried girls pray for a good life partner by observing fasting on this occasion. This festival is particularly observed more cheerfully in some of the states like UP,MP,West Bengal,Odisha,Tamil Nadu,Gujarat, Maharashtra, Karnataka and Kerala, due to more influence in "Vaishnavism".
Drama-dance,singing and enactments which also known as "rasa lila" are also a part of this festival because according to Bhagvad Gita Lord Krishna was also playing with gopis in his childhood period in Vrindavan or Gokul. This is also known as "krishna lila".
This festival is also known as Gokulashtami,Yadukulashtami,Saatham Aatham,Sree Ashtami,Krishnaashtami by the devotees of Lord Krishna. His devotees calls him as Hari,Govind,Kanha,Sri,Kaalia etc. So,in this way the birthday of dharm rakshyak Lord Krishna, who had taught the lesson "Vashudeiva-Kutumbakam" to us,is observed. That's why at present our nation also believes in this lesson and all of us also obey this.
